ok so I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I am trying to figure out proxies, of course google was my first stop, which I couldnt find anything I didnt already know.

So heres my question.... I'm using Firefox and attempting to use an ip/port proxy. Not sure If this is normal but extremely slow speed of loading pages like 30-60 seconds and sometimes they dont load whatsoever.

Obviously I'm not looking to pay for a proxy, but are these types of speeds normal? If it is it doesnt even seem practical. And of course I look at the sites that are on top of google searches.

And of course I looked at the ip/ports posted on these forums which were exactly the ones listed on proxy-list.org

of course I could be doing all this is wrong.... any help advice would be great
